Our Story

Some background information about me, Amanda, the Owner. I’ve always dreamed that I would be a dog breeder, today I am living out that dream with Rose Ranch Retrievers. I have one female, Eva, who is an AKC Yellow Labrador Retriever. I then kept the pick of her first litter which gave me my future breeder, Sage. Although I grew up breeding Jack Russell’s with my dad and then Red Labs which blessed me with my other Lab, Moose. But, this time, doing it on my own makes it that much more special. I also wholeheartedly believe in rescuing and own a Chiweenie named Lyla. These dogs aren’t just pets, they are my family. I have no human children, so these are my kids! My passion for animals, especially dogs, is something I want to share with future puppy parents. My goal is to create the best puppies I possibly can by making sure the parents are tested for genetic diseases such as Hip & Elbow Dysplasia, EIC (Exercise-Induced Collapse), and PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy). I want to make sure that my puppies not only are genetically sound, but also go to the right home!

Sage is a 45-pound wiggly worm. She completes my little family by bringing us so much LAUGHTER! She was my pick of the litter out of Eva’s first litter born on March 27th, 2022. From the very first moment she was born, I knew she was mine. She was the fifth one born and even soaking wet, she was the darkest one of the bunch and exactly what I was looking for. Everyone wanted her but it was already too late, I put my favorite-colored collar on her (turquoise), and the rest was history. There is never a dull moment with Sage, Sager, Sagerooni, Rose Ranch Ruby Sage around. She absolutely loves being a big sister to all these little puppies. She loves going on walks, camping, boat rides, coming to work with me, watching over me while I shower each morning and cuddling me for five minutes before bed each night. She absolutely loves mud and being filthy dirty, and last but not least, constantly picking on her mom and siblings. She is uniquely her and perfect in every way.

Moose is a 100 lb goof. He’s full of love and has the biggest heart. He enjoys chasing butterflies and being the protector for his three girls. He has a sixth sense when you’re having a bad day and will sit there for hours with his head in your lap when you need it. He shares my pillow with me almost every night like he’s human. We share an even more special bond because we share the same birthday! He was the pick of the litter from the Red Lab litter I had back in 2016.

The way he looks at you with those big droopy brown eyes, just melts everyone’s heart he meets. He’s patient and kind with all little kids. Poor guy is the only man in the household, but he sure loves his girls unconditionally and I’m sure he wouldn’t want it any other way.

Eva is a 50 lb spunky bundle of joy. Named after Eva Shockey, a cute blonde with a passion for the outdoors. She’s my spoiled princess who loves to fetch and swim endlessly. She may be small in stature, but she’s big on drive. Her birthday is 9/5/18. She came into my life on a whim but I must say it was the best decision I ever made because she’s brought so much joy into my life ever since the day I brought her home. She spent the first 6 months of her life by my side nonstop. She came to work everyday with me and got to go on a lot of construction jobsite visits. We got to enjoy lots of walks on our lunch breaks together. Now, that she’s bigger, she enjoys staying at home in the Dog Palace with her siblings.

Lyla was a rescue child back in my college days after deciding a year of college without a dog in my life wouldn’t do any longer. She came up from California as a rescue who clearly suffered from abuse, had pneumonia and a litter of pups that didn’t survive. She lived with a veterinarian in Corvallis for 3 months while recovering and the day she was placed in the shelter for adoption just so happened to be the day I walked in there looking for a companion. She came home with me that day and has been my best friend ever since. ll patient years later she’s gone from being scared to even be in the same room with a man to now acting like a completely normal dog. She now rules the roost at home and keeps the rest of us in line. I love my Chiweenie, no matter how silly her breed may sound.

My dogs do everything with me, we hike, hunt, camp, paddleboard, boat, road-trip, fish, shed hunt, and even go to work with me.

They all have their birthdays celebrated. They have gone to the beach and the desert, seen every part of the beautiful state and more including Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Tetons. It is safe to say they are well beyond spoiled. I couldn’t imagine my life without my dogs. You can always count on them to make you smile and greet you when you get home each day. They’re always there for me, good days and bad. To them, I am their whole world, but to me, they’re just as much mine.
